CIMT is one of the original three schools in the United States to include the International Academy of Neuromuscular Therapy (IANMT) certification into our curriculum. Thirteen years later, we are honored to be one of only nine schools in the United States to include the IANMT certification series in our program.


Continuing Education

Bob McAtee, RMT, CSCS, C-PT has been a massage therapist since 1981, specializing in sports massage and soft tissue therapy. Since 1988, Bob has maintained an active, international private practice in Colorado Springs, CO.

Bob is an NCBTMB approved provider and regularly presents workshops throughout the U.S. and internationally on facilitated stretching, sports massage, and soft-tissue injury care. His seminars consistently receive 5-star reviews for their depth of information, hands-on learning, and for Bob's relaxed teaching style.

Bob McAtee is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (1992), is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA 1998), and a certified personal trainer (ACE 2006). He’s also the author of Facilitated Stretching. Since its release in 1994, Facilitated Stretching has sold over 100,000 copies and has been translated into Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, and Japanese.

Bob invented the patented Hand-L Massage Tool, used by manual therapists worldwide to save their thumbs.

Massage Therapy Programs

Since 1985, the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy has been in massage therapy education training competent, caring therapists. We currently offer two day and evening programs held on Tuesdays and Thursdays:

  • 850 Hour Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Certification Program (Accredited Program)
  • 550 Hour Essential Massage Therapy Certification Program

Free Introduction to Massage Therapy Workshop

CIMT offers a monthly free "Introduction to Massage Therapy" workshop. If you are considering a career as a massage therapist, you may consider attending this informational evening. We discuss our school curriculum and philosophy, as well as review the massage therapy industry. Just for fun, we'll also spend some time in our technique room teaching you some basic Swedish massage techniques that you can use right away!
