Attendance Requirements
General
CIMT is a trade school and certifies that graduates not only learn a skill, but also spend a required number of hours in training. Therefore, to graduate from the program, students must attend all classes in their entirety or make them up according to Institute policies. Students are required to contact their instructor in each class in advance of any absence or late arrival. Each instructor keeps records of attendance.
An absence is recorded for all missed and partially attended classes and workshops. When the student arrives 30 minutes late or leaves 30 minutes early, a partial absence is recorded.
Students are subject to probation under the following conditions: 10% absenteeism from any section of A & P, Theory or Technique class, or from Workshops, or failure to complete a pending absence form according to make-up guidelines by the due date.
Any student who is absent for 15% of the program will be automatically dropped from the program unless make-ups have been scheduled in another class section upon approval of the Director. A leave of absence or interruption of training is granted only by prior arrangement with the staff of the school combined with approval of the school director.
All tests, practicums, projects, internships, assignments, class work and clinical work missed during the term, for any reason, must be made up according to a schedule approved by the instructor or Clinic Director.
Student Clinic
Students are required to fulfill 60 appointments over 20 weeks in the student clinic. This clinical work begins approximately the 28th week of the program.
For the clinic professional, dress is required to include khaki slacks, a polo-style shirt with a collar and short sleeves, an apron or holster for the lubricant pump bottle, and close toed shoes.
Workshops
Workshop attendance is required in the course of the program. They are usually scheduled one weekend per month on a Friday evening and a Saturday, or on a Saturday only. Workshops are typically not scheduled on Sundays. While most workshop costs are included in the student's tuition, there are several spa related workshops that have additional charges associated. In addition to Satruday workshops, students are required to attend First Aid/CPR training, which may also be taken elsewhere. In addition to the required workshops, CIMT also schedules continuing education workshops where nationally-known massage therapists and experts in related fields teach workshops, for a fee, to the students and to the general public. |
